One day, the Lord said to me, “If you want my results, speak my language.” God talks to us through His Word. In I Corinthians 14:2, (AMPC) Paul wrote, “For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding].” When we speak in an unknown tongue, we are declaring God’s plans and purposes into the earth.

Every born-again believer who has made Jesus their Lord and Savior can be filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. It is a part of the Great Commission in Mark 16:15-18. Kenneth E. Hagin used to say, “Jesus is God’s gift to the world, and the Holy Spirit is God’s gift to His children.” It’s the supernatural communication between God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and us. It is our birthright as believers and available to those who ask (Luke 11:11-13). It is the gateway and the door to the supernatural.

It is important to remember, tongues are a vocal miracle. Like a toddler learning to speak, it may come out in a few syllables. Reflecting on the day I was filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, my language was very simple. “Abba da se…abba da se…abba da se.” I kept saying it over and over. Eventually, the Holy Spirit asked me, “Do you want to know what you are saying to God?” “Certainly,” I responded. “Daddy sees you,” He replied.

The language of the Spirit is very personalized and individualized. It is unique to you just as your DNA; it is your heavenly DNA.
